David Moore Featured in UC Social Media Campaign Video "PrEParing for HIV"

UC researchers, including Dr. David Moore of the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program, are conducting a 4-year study on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).  PrEP is a prevention strategy for people at high risk for contracting HIV.

Participants agree to take a Truvada pill daily to reduce their risk of getting infected by up to 99%.  Adherence is critical for the method to be effective so participants in the study receive daily reminders to take their medications via text messages and their medication usage is tracked.  Much of David Moore's recent work has focused on developing innovative, personalized, scalable text messaging interventions to improve antiretroviral medication adherence.
