Cannabis, inflammation, and the brain in persons with HIV

Summary:People living with HIV suffer health-related consequences associated with persistent inflammation despite being suppressed on ART. Cannabis is known to reduce inflammation in people with HIV, although little research has been conducted on its beneficial and detrimental effects. This project will look at the effects of chronic cannabis use and the role of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) on chronic inflammation in people living with HIV.
*Who may qualify:
Adults 18 and older
Cannabis users and non-cannabis users
Willing to do some concentration tests
Willing to do a PET scan and MRI scan
People who are HIV- and HIV+
